Chapter 7.3

Posted on January 26, 2022September 25, 2022 by Jack Sinn

Though Mitch had only been away for a few weeks, the loft already felt alien; hostile, even. The interior featured a color scheme of black and white and chrome, sterile without much trace of personality. There were a large few paintings hung up -likely worth thousands of dollars- but their compositions were made up of…

Chapter 7.2

Posted on January 22, 2022August 28, 2022 by Jack Sinn

“Everything alright?” inquired Avi. His expression communicated the self-awareness of what a dumb question that was. “Fantastic. Let’s get this over with.” Mitch unbuckled his seatbelt without issue, but the passenger side door was still a challenge with his limited range of motion. “Do you want some hel-” Avi started to ask, but Mitch cut…

Chapter 7.1

Posted on January 19, 2022August 28, 2022 by Jack Sinn

“It’s up here on the right.” Mitch pointed to the tall building that he once called home. Avi nodded, but his attention was fixed on the bay across the street. “Wow, you were right next to the ocean, huh?” he asked. “Yeah, views are pretty good,” admitted Mitch. He would rather not acknowledge any of…

Chapter 6.6

Posted on January 15, 2022September 25, 2022 by Jack Sinn

Avi adjusted the rearview mirror and cleared his throat. “Hey, so,” he started in a fragile tone, the type that Mitch absolutely loathed, words made out of delicate crystal that were on the verge of crackling. But then the cadence kicked up as he continued. “For what it’s worth -and it’s probably not much- but…

Chapter 6.5

Posted on January 12, 2022August 27, 2022 by Jack Sinn

Up until they reached the Mass Pike merger, they made good time. Then came the slowdown. “How is there traffic on a Saturday?” Mitch complained. “This was always my least favorite part of staying over Jodie’s, having to get through this.”  “Don’t know why, this is superb,” Avi said flatly. Yet, they were still in…

Chapter 6.4

Posted on January 8, 2022September 25, 2022 by Jack Sinn

Mitch coughed to break up the droning noise that permeated throughout the car. “Hey, so. The whole ‘you don’t know me‘ garbage? That…was shitty of me. I do appreciate the ride, though. You didn’t have to do this.” “Don’t mention it,” Avi gently replied, then followed up with, “I uh, sort of panic offered-“ “UGH,…

Chapter 6.3

Posted on January 5, 2022August 26, 2022 by Jack Sinn

“Did you make me pay for something that I won’t-” Mitch sighed and opted to change the subject. “OK. Anyway, as I was saying, all I can think about recently is ‘Rearviewmirror’, and I don’t wanna be requesting moody shit like that while I internally freak out about my ex. Does that make any sense?”  …

Chapter 6.2

Posted on January 1, 2022August 26, 2022 by Jack Sinn

“Alrighty then. Shall we?” Avi opened the front door with keys in his hand, and Mitch mumbled a quick “thanks” before he walked over to the Honda Fit. It was much cleaner than his or Jodie’s car, without a single napkin or fast food bag littering the floor. Avi opened the back driver’s side door…

Chapter 6.1

Posted on December 29, 2021August 23, 2022 by Jack Sinn

The fact that Mitch got any sleep at all was nothing short of a miracle. He chalked it down to a stress response, like his body would actually kill him if he didn’t rest. His heart was already faulty enough, after all; the horizontal scar down his sternum from two open-heart procedures was evidence of…

Chapter 5.5

Posted on December 25, 2021September 25, 2022 by Jack Sinn

“What a show!” Jodie collapsed into her office chair, while Mitch sprawled out onto the old couch. Pay envelopes were dispensed, the building cleaned up, and aside from a few roster members that were indecisive about where they wanted to go drink, everyone else cleared out. “That it was.” Mitch distantly responded while he mulled…

Mitch Calvert is 29 years old, an independent wrestler, and a goddamn mess. After suffering an injury during a match and being put on the shelf, he gets dumped by his boyfriend and is forced to yet again pick up the pieces of his life. He struggles with his self worth, combats addiction and trauma, and begrudgingly falls in love with his new roommate that he definitely has no chance with.

But what can you do? It's either take life's beatdown without putting up any resistance, or grab a steel chair and start swinging back.
