Chapter 1.5

Posted on June 30, 2021January 9, 2023 by Jack Sinn

Save for a nightlight in the kitchen, the house was totally dark when they entered. Jodie groped around in the dark for the light switch while she talked about making up the sleeper sofa. When the room finally lit up, they found the sofa already occupied. “Aw shit, sorry Ingrid!” She yelped. “It’s cool,” Ingrid…

Chapter 1.4

“How’d it go?” Jodie’s voice rolled in gently like seafoam on the shore, her characteristic sharp edges absent. “He’s pissed.” Mitch closed his eyes and braced himself for his friend’s usual tirade, about what an asshole Calvin was and how he had no right to be angry after this and that and the other thing,…

Mitch Calvert is 29 years old, an independent wrestler, and a goddamn mess. After suffering an injury during a match and being put on the shelf, he gets dumped by his boyfriend and is forced to yet again pick up the pieces of his life. He struggles with his self worth, combats addiction and trauma, and begrudgingly falls in love with his new roommate that he definitely has no chance with.

But what can you do? It's either take life's beatdown without putting up any resistance, or grab a steel chair and start swinging back.
