Smoke Break #2

Posted on January 25, 2023 by Jack Sinn

Here’s what I got so far:

-Still doing revisions/editing! Making a good dent.

-Scenes 1-4 of the visual novel have been fully plotted out.

-Started sketching portraits of characters based vaguely on order of appearance (it’s more when they’re mentioned). I’ve wanted to do this for a good while.

-Trying to work on Liner Notes’ branding. This is something that’s eluded me for well over a decade. So after a bunch of sketches, I think I’m getting somewhere

Still haven’t quite nailed it, but I’m drawing inspiration from a few things here. The first and most obvious is design pulled from the 70s, something sort of in the vein of glam/garage rock from that era. The second is that I’m trying to incorporate cassette tape iconography (ie: the little reel teeth in the ‘o’). If possible, I want to maybe include some magnetic tape that winds around the logo itself, as seen in the diagram below (it forms a trapezoid with the two large circular reels in the center and at the bottom of the cassette itself):

Of course, that might make it all a bit too busy, but I’m gonna play with it a lot more and see where that goes.

That’s about it! I’m gonna get back to work now.

xoxo,

Jack

Mitch Calvert is 29 years old, an independent wrestler, and a goddamn mess. After suffering an injury during a match and being put on the shelf, he gets dumped by his boyfriend and is forced to yet again pick up the pieces of his life. He struggles with his self worth, combats addiction and trauma, and begrudgingly falls in love with his new roommate that he definitely has no chance with.

But what can you do? It's either take life's beatdown without putting up any resistance, or grab a steel chair and start swinging back.
