Progress Log #1

Posted on August 28, 2022 by Jack Sinn

Thought I’d let everyone know how the intermission is coming along! This will probably turn into something like a weekly devlog.

-Chapters 1-4 are completely revised/editing and doublechecked for errors, so they’re good to go!

-Chapters 5-6 are revised/edited, but have not yet been doublechecked for errors.

-“Grindhouse Professional Wrestling” has been changed to “Monster Mash Wrestling”. Back when I was brainstorming in 2019-2020, I poked around the internet to make sure that there wasn’t a real Grindhouse Pro, and found nothing. So imagine my surprise when I went to set up a social media account a few weeks ago, and it turns out that there IS a real Grindhouse Pro! Apparently they’ve been around since 2015 (although some sources say 2017?), and my only guess is that they didn’t have any real online presence until recently, because I LOOKED.

But that’s fine! I was never really attached to the Grindhouse name anyway, and Monster Mash was the original idea that I toyed with. I went with the former after running a poll on Twitter, and I should have just stuck with my heart! Oh well! So if you go back and re-read the first few chapters, you’ll see the change. As of writing this I have not yet touched anything past Chapter 6, so the promotion is still referred to as Grindhouse until I can get to those revisions.

Mitch Calvert is 29 years old, an independent wrestler, and a goddamn mess. After suffering an injury during a match and being put on the shelf, he gets dumped by his boyfriend and is forced to yet again pick up the pieces of his life. He struggles with his self worth, combats addiction and trauma, and begrudgingly falls in love with his new roommate that he definitely has no chance with.

But what can you do? It's either take life's beatdown without putting up any resistance, or grab a steel chair and start swinging back.
